This November, F3 Nation will launch GrowRuck.

What, you ask, is GrowRuck?

It’s simple: GrowSchool + GORUCK Tough challenge. In one weekend, you’ll get, 1stF + CSAUP + 2ndF + F3 Leadership Development & Training.

We’re working with our friends at GORUCK to plan GrowRuck 001 for the weekend of Nov. 18-20, near GORUCK HQ in Jacksonville, Fla.

While the primary targets of this event are the F3 Jacksonville pax (for whom this will be a Region-building CSAUP), registration is open to anyone (and everyone) from F3 Nation who wants to support the effort, enjoys a high-quality GORUCK-led beatdown or wants another patch to add to the collection!

The F3 Nation GrowRuck

We rolled out GrowSchool earlier this year as an offering for F3’s “Nomads” — workout locations that are on their way to becoming Regions and can use a little support and encouragement along the way. To date, we’ve conducted GrowSchools in Nashville, New Orleans, Myrtle Beach and (later this summer) Richmond and Wilmington.

After teaching through a couple of GrowSchools, we started to realize how important CSAUP events are to building 2ndF and the overall momentum toward a region. And no CSAUP event that we’ve ever seen has the same catalytic effect on 2ndF and F3 growth as F3 guys getting together to do a GORUCK Tough challenge.

So, we thought, why not combine the two?

GrowRuck will be led by GORUCK cadre and will be in all ways an official GORUCK Tough challenge, but F3 will work with the cadre to tailor activities and the teaching to reinforce the GrowSchool curriculum and lessons. Dredd and OBT will participate in GrowRuck 001 alongside the rest of the pax.

Weekend Schedule

We’re still ironing out details, but the schedule should look something like this:

Friday, November 18th

  • TBD 2ndF Event

Saturday, November 19th

  • 07:00 – Jax Convergence led by Dredd & OBT
  • 08:00 – Coffeeteria
  • 09:00 – 11:00 – GrowShool led by Dredd & OBT
  • 18:00 – GORUCK Tough Challenge launches

Sunday, November 20th

  • Sometime in the AM, GORUCK Tough Challenge concludes

Cost

The cost to participate in the GORUCK Tough Challenge is $100 for the F3 Jacksonville pax and $125 for everybody else. The reason for the difference in pricing is to encourage participation among Jax pax.

Because this is a custom F3/GORUCK event, there will be no refunds, but you’re free to sell (or give) your spot to another PAX if something critical comes up.

Training

To prepare for the Challenge, Jacksonville will begin to hold ruck-friendly workouts this summer. Stay tuned for more details.

Gear

The most frequent question asked when an F3 group begins to look into doing the Challenge is “do I need to buy a $300 backpack”. The short answer is no. A GORUCK ruck is not required (FYI: the Rucker model goes on sale from time-to-time for around $100). Also, many guys pick up second-hand rucks at Army surplus stores, eBay, or Craigslist.

If you decide you want a GORUCK ruck, they will give us a 10% discount on gear once we have made our deposit.

Besides a ruck, you’ll need some bricks for weigh, a headlamp, and a hydration bladder.

  20. In order to promote GrowRuck 01 we’ve setup a conference call next Tuesday at 8pm. OBT will be on the call to talk about the concept of the GrowRuck, what to expect, and what the pax will hopefully walk away from the weekend with.
