I thought Kessel was a RUNNING workout!

  • QIC: Drone
  • The PAX: Earshot, Disco, Septum, SeatDown

YHC felt like testing fate by visiting Stagecoach with five Kessel pax for an upper body funfest.  Fortunately, the parking garage gods smiled on us, and we went two full circuits with no interruptions.  We also didn’t have to swim through the streets, which would have been the case on both banks of the river six days ago thanks to Irma, although ServPro was still trying to dry out the Wells Fargo basement as we ran by.

Conditions: Not a hurricane

The Thang:

  • Implied disclaimer
  • 2 laps warmup around Friendship Fountain – butt kickers, high knees, karaoke, backwards, backward high knees
  • 10 lunges OYO

Mosey across Main St. bridge to Stagecoach

  • Round 1 – up all 10 levels, stop on flats for alternating:
    • 15 Hand Release Merkins
    • 15 Diamond Merkins
    • (modified to 10 for floors 9 & 10)
    • Hold Superman on the roof (bonus points to Disco for dramatic comic book cover form)
  • Mosey together back to Level 2
  • Round 2 – Repeato with:
    • 10 Big Boy Situps
    • 15 Flutter Kicks
    • Hold 6″ at the top (8″ for SeatDown because he’s compensating)
  • Mosey down stairwell
  • Sprint the stairs, up and down

Mosey back to Friendship Fountain and finish with:

  • Lunges
  • Broad Jumps
  • Heisenberg Step-ups

Regroup with Venice Beach pax for BOM

Naked Moleskin:

  • Jumanji briefly considered posting but decided he wasn’t up for the challenge this morning
  • Overheard 120 Merkins into Round 1: “Isn’t this supposed to be Kessel RUN?”
  • Earshot scored a pair of Puma gym shorts hanging from a ledge in the stairwell.  Wash them well, brother.
  • Did anyone else spot what could only have been Kowalski pushing a trash can across the roof of the baby garage next door on our way down the stairs at the end?  YHC half expected him to yell across the street, “You troublemakers get off my stairs!”

TAP:

  • JEA and other utility linemen who are still working 18-hour days until the last 750 homes in Jax have power (down from 200K+ initial outages last Tuesday!).  The effort and sacrifice from these guys in the past week since Irma has been nothing short of heroic, and they deserve our thanks and support.
  • Earshot – housing (Sky Q may have provided an immediate answer through Disco)
  • Drone M – wisdom teeth removal this Friday, pray for peace and no complications
