The Badlands had a record PAX at 25! Each man was challenged to be a thermostat rather than a thermometer. A thermometer just reflects temperature. If you’re around a bunch of complainers, you’re a complainer. If you are around people that are angry, you’re angry. If you are around those that are into self-pity, you’re into self-pity. However a thermostat sets the temperature and raises everyone else around them up to it! We are challenged to be thermostats rather than thermometers.
Warm Up:
Micheal Phelps
Side Straddle Hop
Baby Arm Circles
The Chinook
Imperial Walker
The Thang:
Mosey to the 3rd parking lot (as McDreamy yells out, “Not the 3rd lot!” and onto Malea Field (football field). Shared with the group that we hear the phrase “keepin it 100”. Meaning be real! Be authentic! So in honor of keeping it 100 the PAX paired up and did the following:
100 – Merkins
100 – LBC’s
100 – Lt. Dan’s
100 – E2K’s
100 – Air Jordan’s
Each person/partner had to do the 100 Merkins, 100 LBC’s, etc. Once each excercise was completed by the pairs you then would run to the opposite goal post (100 yards) before returning to complete the next excerise and then running again to the goal post, and so on until all 5 exercises were complete. We emphasized giving 100% effort and accountability. (Hence having a partner to complete the excercises)
Then mosey to the 2nd parking lot and enter the COP (Circle of Pain). Here we discussed how we act and perform when we know someone is watching vs. not watching. So to illustrate each member of the PAX would bear crawl inside the circle while the others would be doing side straddle hop and high knees until it was their turn to bear crawl while everyone was watching and cheering each other on.
The start a mosey to the flag but at 100 yards out the VQ yelled, AYG! (All You Got) and the PAX would sprint to the flag and circle up to end the workout.
COT/TAP:
We welcomed an FNG, Mike (F3 name: Tinkle) to the group. We talked about “Greater is the man who conquers himself, than he who conquers a city.” We believe we can have a tremendous impact on our city but we first must conquer ourselves. Are we patient?, Do we have integrity?, Are we a blessing? We repeated these words, “I”m not looking for blessings to come into my life, I’m looking to be a blessing in someone’s life.” We prayed for Airbags family and for peace and comfort for those who were affected by the recent NYC tragedy.
