YHC welcomed the predawn gloom, relishing the opportunity to be Poseidon’s first arriving guest.  Imagine his surprise when 6 Pax galloped into the parking lot, finishing a pre-workout run through the seaside community of Jax Beach. They appeared none the worse for wear, though subfreezing temperatures reminded YHC of the blissful pleasure of his heated car…

The THANG—

Promising the Pax a Greek history lesson in honor of our AO namesake, YHC delivered some riveting trivia about Poseidon. The Pax welcomed this education with yawns and the occasional shiver, muttering sub- breath comments that YHC assumed were purely complementary in nature…

Poseidon was the second son of titans Cronus and Rhea. In most accounts he is swallowed by Cronus at birth but later saved by Zeus around 10,000 yrs BC (making him 12 millenniums old). Celebrating his birthday, we enjoyed–

MILLENNIAL BLACKJACK: 12 Hand release Merkins/ 1 LBC—Black Jack style; side to side across the field.

Run to pull up bars

Poseidon was god of 3 things: the sea, earthquakes and horses. He lived in a palace on the ocean floor, made of coral and gems. ‘Welcome to Poseidon’s palace’– we will show our strength in 3 areas: 5 pull ups/ 5 dips/ 5 box jumps/ run around lighthouse; increase by 1 pullup and 5 dips/ box jumps to 10/ 30/30.

Mosey to weights—4 lines: 35 35 25 25—4 per line; cone at 40 yds

Poseidon became known as the “earth-shaker”, because the Greeks believed that the cause of the earthquakes was the erosion of the rocks by flowing water. When offended or ignored, he supposedly struck the ground with his trident and caused chaotic springs, earthquakes, drownings and shipwrecks.

EARTH SHAKER— 4 rounds: carry overhead to cone/ curls/ carry out front/ your choice slam weight into earth. Others doing P1 -LBCs, P-2 Air Jordans, P3- Plank Jacks

Mosey to west side of VB courts

Poseidon had more than 100 consorts (‘lady friends…) and twice as many children. The name Poseidon comes from Posthe which means the male sex organ, and eidon is Greek for “image” or “idol”). Poseidon’s human wife was Kleito (Cleito) a diminutive form of kleitoros, the Greek word for the female sex organ.

SPERM COUNT Partner Up: P 1 = 100 pickle pounders, 200 Thrusters (squat jumps), 300 Pelvis pumpers (aka Gorilla humpers) P2 = bear crawl across parking lot, lunge back.

COT/ NR/CR Announcements/ prayer requests

Poseidon was a powerful man but he had a bit of an attitude…he got in his own way…he made poor choices…he showed his Olympian arse when things didn’t go his way. Sounds a bit like all of us occasionally…What do I do when I trip over my feet of clay? Do I wallow? Do I self-persecute? Do I prevent myself from moving forward by living squarely in the past? God is far more interested in your future than in your past.  Isaiah 43:18—The lord says, forget about what happened in the past. Instead, look at the new things I am going to do”. As we begin 2018—let us look forward as God instructs us to do, leaving the past behind and striving to be a better man.
