Where The Streets Have No Name

In the Badlands chilly gloom, YHC greeted the six grumble-stretching Pax with some ‘fascinating’ (at least he thought so) musical trivia. Today (3/13/18) is Adam Clayton’s 57th birthday. Any self-respecting musicophile recognizes him as the U2 bass guitarist. In 1987, they released Where The Streets Have No Name (…playing softly in the background…) on the Joshua Tree Album.

I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside

I wanna reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name—

There are many proposed meanings around the lyric origin, but to me it sounds like someone in conflict, someone without a rudder, someone like you or me… What if we perceive we have everything we thought would make us happy…and still we aren’t ? (Some refer to this as a midlife crisis)…

Here was the run route:

  1. Run to Church yard to warm up:
    1. Reacher 10 (slooowly)
    2. Tempo Merkin 10
    3. Standing Quads stretch
    4. Down Dog Calf stretch
  2. Run to Gate Station: Cariaka L/R high knee/ backwards, weave between pumps
  3. Loop back to Church pullup bars: partner up—P1 does 15 pullups/P2 15 burpees
  4. Run to PVHS; bearcrawl across bridge; Stop at neon sign—10 burpees to honor higher education
  5. Run to light poles in back of school parking lot—roll and execute the IOD (icosahedron of death) at each pole
  6. Indian Run Back:

First half: Bataan Death March: The last person drops and does 5 merkins, while the rest of the Pax mosey in a line. After completing the Burpees, the last guy runs to catch the group, tapping the (new) last Pax on the shoulder, who then stops to begin his 5 Burpees, while the (former) last guy continues on to the front of the line

Second half: Black Snake Weave

  1. Back in the parking lot–parking space tracer: PAX starts at one point on a parking space line. PAX sprints while tracing the lines on the parking lot.

Blaise Pascal–“There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made know through Jesus Christ.”

What are you putting in your hole—and how is that working for ya?
