Honoring Father’s Day at Poseidon

Posted on Posted in Backblasts

Fourteen faithful PAX posted at Poseidon this morning.  Zamboni was the Q and he only has one good knee…most were probably thinking this should be easy.  In honor of Father’s Day, I made sure we were all tested and pushed to be stronger while having a little fun.  We threw balls, listened to music, ran around, went to a play ground and threw in a few extra burpees and bear crawls for good mesure.

History of Father’s Day

Father’s Day goes back to the 13th century where it was celebrated in Europe on St. Joseph’s Day (March 19th).  This year is the 100th anniversary of the first Father’s Day celebration in the USA.  There were many failed attempts at formalizing the day as a National Holiday.  It wasn’t until LBJ made a proclamation in 1966 that the holiday was established as the 3rd Sunday in June.  In 1972 Nixon signed a law that formally made the day a National Holiday.
