12 HIM (3 FNGs)posted in the muggy gloom here at Boondocks. It’s September in Florida, so naturally its hot with high humidity. So naturally it feels like college football weather! At the risk of the Boondocks’ PAX thinking I only do sports themed beatdowns, this is the South, so it must be celebrated. Here we go…

The Thang

Catch that Tiger– (Clemson fight song is very catchy) same concept as Chase the Bear, but modified with 3 teams of 4. Team 1 starts with the football and scatters on the field as Teams 2 and 3 begin with 20 squats. After 20 squats, Teams 2 and 3 attempt to retrieve the ball or tag a member of Team 1 with the ball. Whichever team achieves either objective, they begin to scatter with the field with the ball while the other two teams begin squats. Play continued for about 4-5 change in positions.

The HERD: Being a native of Huntington, WV, I could not live with myself without some sort of shout out to the Thundering Herd of Marshall. Some former Marshall players you may be aware of include Troy Brown, Chad Pennington, Hall of Famer Randy Moss, and former Jaguars Byron Leftwich, Chris Hanson and John Wade.

BOMBS –Style exercise with the following exercises:

  • H: Hand release merkins x50
  • E: Elbows to ground (Makhtar N’Diayes) x100 (count each elbow)
  • R: Reverse Pickle Pounder x 150
  • D: Diamond Merkins x200

11’s- starting at one sideline, run to opposite side line and perform 10 mountain climbers, then run back to starting sideline for 1 squat, go back to opposite side line for 9 mountain climbers, and then back to starting sideline for 2 squats. Continue this pattern until you reach 1 mountain climber and 10 squats. Mercy rule was in effect- once first PAX completed the exercise, all were done as well.

Today is the first of September, which means a new Core Value to focus on for the month. This month’s Core Value Principle is Freedom. Our corresponding core phrase for the month is: We honor our freedom to assemble peacefully without persecution, by always honoring those who sacrificed to persevere that freedom. Blessed Pope John Paul II said, “Freedom consists of not doing what we like, but having the right to do what we ought.”
