Having been out of commission the past couple of weeks with a sinus bug, YHC was very delighted to be out and about amongst his fellow F3 brothers on the first beatdown of the new year. 9 HIM of F3 Jacksonville successfully celebrated New Year’s Eve and managed to christen 2019 by posting in the gloom at Anthill.   Hearing about a Q opening for this particular day, YHC wasted no time in signing up just so he could introduce the Pax to his Decagon of Death… x3.

COP

  • SSH x19 IC (for obvious reasons)
  • Hillbillies x15 IC
  • Don Quixote x12 IC
  • Squats x10 IC
  • Lunges x 5 OYO
  • Merkins x10 IC
  • Burpees x10 OYO (for our late arrival- thanks Pud)

The Thang

While an innocent bystander during a recent shopping spree with his M and 2.0’s, YCH walked into one of their favorite stores: Five Below. Very interesting things can be found here. Including several exercise dice that I felt could be very useful at my next Q…

  • Decagon Dice of Death Rolls
    • Pax broke up into three groups of 3, each carrying a 10-sided dice (although once the plural version of “die”, did you know that dice is actually approved to be both singular and plural in modern English?).
    • Each side of each dice (all different), had various exercises with various reps. Some were timed exercises.
    • Thrower of the dice did have the option of choosing a version of the exercise rolled (for instance, if push-ups (aka merkins) x20 was rolled, pax could chose to do diamond merkins).
    • Pax then moseyed towards San Marco Square with three stops.
    • At each stop, member of each group rolled their dice and all proceeded to perform the exercise rolled.
    • Along the way Pax discussed in their groups, their individual New Year’s Goals/Resolutions
  • San Marco Square Relay
    • Same groups of three’s, 1 runner, 2 stay behind performing various static holds
      • Pax 1 (runner)
        • Wheel of Merkin at the Pavilion
        • Box Jumps or Step –Ups at the fountain
        • Duck Walks around the Statue of Lions
      • Pax 2 & 3
        • Alternating between wall sits, BTTW and planks with feet on wall
        • All positions for as long as possible
  • Rail walk up ramp only- can’t come all this way and not utilize our favorite rail at the BOA; although it seems a lot longer than I remembered
  • Mosey back to park with exercises and wagon wheels for the six

COT/BOM

Luck was on the side of the PAX during the Decagon Dice of Death Rolls. Not sure if they were aware, but there is a possibility of burpee rolls of 10, 20 and 30 reps. We managed to escape without burpees being rolled.

YHC does not like to make New Year’s “resolutions”. Many will make a resolution, only to break it within the first 3 months of the New Year. YHC is learning to set goals or challenges for himself for the New Year. We tend to keep goals. We mentioned our goals out loud for others to hear this morning. Now it is up to us to have a plan on accomplishing these goals, and it is our F3 brother’s responsibility to help hold us accountable. YHC encouraged each to check in with the brother in their group today to see how they are coming along with their 2019 goal(s). One of my goals is not to be a Richard Cranium this year.

It was great being back in the gloom with such HIM. It was a pleasure and privilege to lead you today.

Prayers/Announcements for:

  • Barry Shinkoff and his M for guidance and strengthening of their marriage
  • Heisenberg for perseverance with job search and trusting God’s plan
  • Quick recovery for Pyro following surgery
  • Lord’s Prayer and Pledge to the Flag
