8 High Impact Men fought the forces of the fartsack and mustered enough courage to post at Boondocks. YHC had a plan in place, but a lack of oxygen to his brain following a solo Dolly and an unexpected turn of events resulted in a few audibles being called. With 3 FNGs amongst the Pax, the disclaimer was given, emphasizing the “modify if you have to” and “I am not a professional” parts. Here we go…

COP

  • SSH x20 IC
  • Hillbillies x12 IC
  • LBAC forwards/backwards x10 IC
  • BAC backwards/forwards x10 IC
  • Don Quixote x10 IC
  • Squats x10 IC
  • Merkins x10 IC (FNGs warned NOT to Google ‘Merkin’)
  • Burpees x5 OYO

The Thang

MLK once said: “If you can’t fly, run; if you can’t run, walk; if you can’t walk, crawl; but by all means keep moving.”

The Death Star?

YHC arrived early and set up cones at the 50-yard line on the football field.  Cones were arranged in a star configuration for the Death Star. As the Pax moseyed to the football field, YHC had a bad feeling… it reminded him of when the Millennium Falcon arrived to the coordinates of Alderaan, only to find no Alderaan (but this time there was no Death Star). The cones that were once perfectly constructed were gone! Leaving F&F in charge, YHC went on a recon mission to recover the lost cones. With the cones recovered (think of Vader looking for the stolen Death Star plans but being successful), YHC quickly attempted to reconstruct the Death Star, which in the end, resembled more like the Death Star in Episode VI than in Episode IV, hence the confused looks of the Pax once introduced to the next exercise.

  • 10-ish cones in a warped star configuration
  • Partnered up and head to a cone
  • Begin with 30 merkins, then bear crawl to the next cone (counterclockwise)
  • Continue sequence of 30 merkins followed by bear crawl until all cones reached
  • Audible called after 3 cones and we switched to 20 merkins per cone

COP 2

  • Michael Phelps x20 IC
  • Imperial Walkers x10 IC
  • Air chair with overhead claps x10 IC

MLK is attributed to saying: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

COT

Another saying heard around F3 Nation is “Leave no man behind, and leave no man where you found him.” T-claps to the FNGs for what they were able to accomplish today. The FNGs were reminded that they can only get better from here… if you keep posting and never give up on yourself. We are here for you and will help you get better, but you have to show up.

In addition to it being MLK weekend with MLK Day on Monday, another upcoming event this week is on Tuesday. Tuesday marks the 46th anniversary of Roe v Wade. A landmark decision by the US Supreme Court that resulted in, what I believe is ironic, the killing of unborn babies in the name of reproductive rights. No matter what side of this issue you stand, I ask that you think about, and if you are a praying man, pray, for all women who have been affected by abortion. Whether they have had one or are or were ever, put in a situation where they had to make that kind of decision. Pray for those in this industry, that they may one-day see the light, and have a change of heart.

BOM

Prayers for:

  • YHC’s daughter who is serving other youth at a retreat this weekend as they prepare for Confirmation. She is doing so with a heavy heart as she found out about the death of her mentor and violin teacher, Colin Kiely.
  • YHC’s brother-in-law’s mother, who went for a biopsy this past week as there is fear her cancer has returned. She was already recovering from the removal of a tumor, and has decided against any further treatment, regardless of the results.
  • Eileen’s niece’s father-in-law who was in a serious car accident and is now in a coma in a hospital in North Carolina.

Closed out with the Lord’s Prayer followed by the Pledge

It was a pleasure to serve you brothers!
