11 HIM of the Jax Pax were joined in the gloom by Rusty, who was down range from F3 Naperville, for a beatdown by YHC at #Anthill.  This weekend was also the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby. History was made when Maximum Security, who finished 1st, was disqualified, resulting in Country House winning the race as the second longest shot (65 to 1). Hence it made sense to play a little game of HORSE… without the basketball.

The Thang

HORSE: BOMBS-type exercise with a couple of quirks:

  1. Running portion is around the field instead of up and back
  2. On the last exercise, during the run, there is a stop at the playground for 5 pull-ups
  • H- Hand-release merkins x50
  • O- Overhead claps in air chair x100
  • R- Rockettes Dips x150 (count dips)
  • S- Squats x200
  • E- Elbow to knees (pretzel crunch) x250 (125 each side)
  • Run additional laps and 10 pull-ups for the six

Ever play that carnival game where you shoot the water gun at a target to make the horse advance across the track. The rocking motion of the horse reminds me of this next exercise:

Bearpees

  • 4 bear crawl steps: 1 burpee from light post to cones
  • 4 bear crawl steps: 2 burpees from cones to sidewalk
  • 4 bear crawl steps: 3 burpees from sidewalk to cones
  • 4 bear crawl steps: 4 burpees from cones to light post

 COT/BOM

The ruckers found their way home just in time for the BOM.  YHC was watching the news stories regarding the incident where a plane had skid off the runway and into the St. Johns River this weekend at NAS Jax. One of the passengers was recovering in the hospital talked about the experience. He mentioned that many were panicking and did not know what to do. He encouraged everyone watching to listen to the emergency instructions at the beginning of every flight, even if we have heard them hundreds of times before. This is one way to make sure we stay prepared. We are trying to develop leaders in F3. One way to be a leader is to remain vigilant and prepared.
