On this soggy morn, 14 men pried themselves out of bed to experience the “always free” homegrown Blockie’s Gym (Unlike the upper crusty, empty-your-wallet Bailey’s Gym). Every exercise included our loving blocks. Lying in anticipation behind the electrical box, waiting for us to come back to greet them, like a fair maiden on the widow’s walk waiting for her man to return from sea. I could sense the Pax eagerness to bond once again with their beloved blocks. Many showed up early to gather the blocks and gently place them in the circle. “There’s my girl” some exclaimed. Others tried to tatoo their initials onto their favorite block to keep it for themselves, but I had to remind them of the stark reality that these blocks must remain independent, available to all Pax. Like ladies of the night, loved for a moment, used and sweated on, and tossed back into the pile as the exhausted Pax leave to shower off. Upon finishing, I think I heard one man with callused hands whisper, “Until next time, my dear block”. This ended the brief tryst in the morning gloom. Was it love, anguish, or both? There will be no flowers today. Until we meet again…

Closing Message:
Together We Are Stronger- Each of Us Contributes to the Whole in Their Own Unique Way to Make the Pax Stronger, Which Makes Our Families and Community Stronger
We give each other:
- Extra Push (get up early, work harder, sweat more than we would alone)
- Extra Knowledge (each of us has unique perspective to share. As long as it comes from a place of love, share it, don’t waste it.)
- Extra Support (life is a series of ups and downs. Supporting each other through the downs helps us grow as individuals)
- Learned Habits (old habits are hard to break, but the Pax can learn new habits from each other to build our mind, body and spirit)
- Learned Lessons (We all live in our own bubble and make decisions based on our life experiences. We don’t know what we don’t know. Opening our hearts and minds to the Pax helps us learn important life lessons that help us improve and grow.)
- Learned Compassion (By sharing our stories, asking for help, and helping others, we break free from the ego-centric mind and open up to compassion and love, which is the connective tissue of life.)
Bible Verses on Liberty:
“Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
2 Corinthians 3:17 ASV
“For ye, brethren, were called for freedom; only use not your freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through love be servants one to another.”
Galatians 5:13 ASV
