6 HIM of Fleming Island rolled out of the fartsack and posted in the gloom at Asgard on this foggy December morning.  YHC had drawn the Q after losing a stare-down competition with Crotchless and after a short Thursday night’s sleep, a long Friday at work, and a nap on the couch, he came up with the idea of copying someone else’s beatdown.  Hence, thanks to another OG, this beatdown is sponsored by the letters L.I.F and O!

The Thang

YHC had been thinking of some sort of ladder workout after going up and down a ladder the previous weekends to clean gutters and then retrieve Christmas decorations from the attic.  Having no real time to come up with exercises, he remembered another OG who was fond of cones and moving them as he pleased.  So YHC found one of these drills and seeing no copyright symbols, he used it.  Cones configured to an isosceles triangle and with two pax at each cone (that is after Animal makes his appearance), we began:

  • Mosey to the playground for 5 pull-ups
  • Round 1: Jacksonville Isosceles Triangle of Death
    • 10 burpees at cone 1, bear crawl to next cone, 9 burpees, down to 1
  • Round 2: move cones further apart 5 steps
    • 10 Bobby Hurley’s, lunge walk to next cone, 9 BH’s, down to 1
  • Round 3: move cones further apart 5 steps
    • 50 LBC’s run to next cone, 45 LBC’s down to 5
  • Round 4: move cones further apart 5 steps
    • 10 merkins, backwards run, 9 merkins, down to 1
    • * at some point during this round, Sasquatch mentions that he was glad to get the burpees out of the way first…. YHC didn’t have the heart to tell him, but he heard Dr. Evil laugh in his head…
    • Mumble chatter ramped up once YHC proclaimed: Congratulations on making it to the TOP of the ladder…
  • Round 5: move cones 5 steps closer- at this time, Sasquatch began using his height to his advantage, and Crotchless took a few leaps
    • 50 LBC’s, run to next cone, 45 LBC’s down to 5
  • Round 6: move cones 5 steps closer
    • 10 Bobby Hurley’s, power skip to next cone, 9 BH’s down to 1
  • Round 7: move cones 5 steps closer
    • Burpee round with the cones so close it took 3 bear crawl steps from cone to cone
  • Mosey to the playground for 5 pull-ups

BOM/COT

YHC spoke about not taking shortcuts when doing something hard as it can often lead to more problems down the road.  Jumping off the top of a ladder to get down faster, would not be a good idea.  Must go rung to rung to be safe.  As much as we would like to help our kids avoid the same mistakes we made, sometimes we must let them make mistakes in order to learn and grow.  We must have faith that the lessons we taught them will help them navigate through life and mature.
