10 HIM of Fleming Island posting in the cool and crisp gloom at Asgard. Since there were only two pax last year, YHC repeated his Advent beatdown from last year. While perusing the slack channels, he saw another Advent beatdown Q’d by the one and only D-Day. Being quite fond of this his work, YHC decided to “borrow” it and re-gift it to the pax. Temp 41 degrees with 84% humidity.

The Thang
Advent Calendar- now adays, you can find an Advent calendar where folks can flip open a door or tab to reveal a small gift as they celebrate the season, counting down to Christmas. The pax were introduced to the F3 Jax Advent calendar where things are just as fun… at least through the first week of Advent.
Week 1 of Advent- Hope
- Run to church parking lot from the playground and back (~ 400m)
- 2 Pull ups
- 3 Burpees
- 4 Tempo squats
- 5 Hand-release merkins
- 6 Monkey humpers
- 7 BBSU
Week 2 of Advent- Love
- Run to US-17 from the playground and back (~ 800m)- at this point, some pax began to see a pattern developing
- 9 Pull-ups- at this point, the pax realized that they were not so fond of the pattern
- 10 Burpees
- 11 Tempo squats
- 12 HRM
- 13 Monkey humpers
- 14 BBSU
Week 3 of Advent- Joy
- Run to US-17 and back, then to the church parking lot and back (~ 1200m)
- 16 Pull-ups
- 17 Burpees
- 18 Tempo squats
- 19 HRM
- 20 Monkey humpers
- 21 BBSU
Week 4 if Advent- Peace; seeing time was running short, YHC called for Hero rule rest of the way
- Run to US-17 and back twice (~ 1600m)
- 23 Pull-ups
- 24 Burpees
- 25 Tempo squats
- 26 HRM
- 27 Monkey humpers
- 28 BBSU
Time was called following tempo squats to the delight of the pax. As YHC looked up from the beatdown, he noticed the pax had grown from 10 to 11 with Drumstick joining the fun as the pax began their last round of pull ups.
COT
YHC acknowledged the business of this time of year. He extrapolated how busy we can be at this time to life in general. We can get caught up with tasks to be done, and “what’s next”, and not appreciate the moment or celebrate the completion of tasks, whether at work or home. YHC encouraged the pax to take time to be present for themselves, for their families, and those around them. Afterall, the things we do is for them.
Thank you, brothers, for allowing me to lead you today.
