Who’s the Q?

  • The PAX: LIFO (R), D-5, Extinguisher (R), Septum, ToolMan (downrange)

Fellow pax LIFO was signed up to Q this foggy, gloomy morning at Chop Shop AO, it being “LIFO week” and all.  We were excited to welcome ToolMan, downrange from Arlington Heights, IL (greater Chicago).

So LIFO kicked us off with a nice warm-up, consisting (more or less) of:

LBAC Forward IC, Big Arm Circles Forward IC, Michael Phelps OYO, Toy Soldiers IC, Reachers IC…..I’m not sure what else!

The pax proceeded to the pavilion (aka “Updraft’s Hut”), and to the other pax’ surprise, handed the Q over to YHC.

So, we dove headfirst into a highly modified but still intense Hero Workout of the day, The Whitten.  This workout honors Capt. Daniel Whitten, who along with Pfc. Zachary Lovejoy, were killed on February 2, 2010 in Zabul, Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device hit their Humvee.  Another soldier, Cpl. LeGrand Strickland, ended up losing both legs, in the attack.

5 rounds of the following:

22 Incline Merkins

22 Step-Ups

200m (+/-) Run or Walking Lunges (pavilion to playground)

22 Burpees

22 Pulsing Squats (triple pulse at the squat)

This was a complete beatdown, as it essentially took up the entire workout after the warm-up.  The prescribed workout, with 70 lb. KB swings and 20 lb. wall-ball shots, would make for a killer hour-long workout (hmmm….).

Count o rama, Name o rama, and COT……..Circle of Trust was mainly about sacrifice.  We recounted the Capt. Daniel Whitten story, his sacrifice, and the sacrifices of all those who protect and provide service to ordinary people like us (military, law enforcement, first responders, medical personnel, teachers, etc).  We are so blessed to be able to “suffer” in the gloom, even though we have to remind ourselves that WE GET TO do these F3 things we do.

Thank you PAX for this opportunity to lead with LIFO.  And it was great having ToolMan join us, please return to The Chop!
