BigBird’s M kindly wrangled the Q away from him and gave me a chance to step in and do my darndest to get one of my elders to merlot.

The day was chilly, 8 PAX embraced the suck, and I had a plan that had a theme and a solid chance of breaking the PAX.

QIC: SeatDown

PAX: ShockTreatment, FNG (Stank), Toxic, Beetlejuice, Mandy, Bernie, Gecko

The Thang:

Circle of… Warmup – since we had an FNG we simply practiced the exercises we would be doing later (Tempo Merkins, Tempo Squat, 3 Burpees, Barry Shinkofs).  To no one’s surprise, the warmup was not up to Gecko’s standards.

Partner Laps:

Lap1: Pair up, head to the “track” –> Partner1 does 10 merkins while Partner2 runs away backwards –> Partner1 finished merkins and chases down Partner2 –> they switch and repeat the cycle until the full lap is complete.  Bonus: while completely the lap, each partner needed to share one High and one Low from the previous week.  Plank for the 6 –> hold the plank until each PAX shared either the high or the low from his partner… YHQ underestimated how long it would take the PAX to recall simple facts, which added to the pain and suffering

Lap2: Pair Up (new partner) –> Partner1 does 5 Burpees while Partner2 bear crawls away –> Partner1 finished burpees and chases down Partner2 –> they switch and repeat the cycle until the full lap is complete.  Bonus: while completely the lap, each partner needed to share one thing they hoped to do or accomplish this year.  Hold 6 inches for the 6 –> hold it until each PAX shared either the goal/plan from his partner… once again, YHQ underestimated how long it would take the PAX to recall simple facts, which added to the pain and suffering (the second lap was much worse than the first but no discounts were given, largely because “if Toxic didn’t need a shortcut, neither did anyone else”)

Stretching the Legs: PAX lined up with the lamp posts –> ran to the far side of the field to the “track” –> 3 Burpees, 20 Squats, 20 Bigboy-situps –> Run back… 10 Count –> Repeat (except the top 3 finishers from the prior lap, added one burpee to their list) –> repeat until a PAX that was not a top 3 finisher final breaks into the top 3 or 7 laps are completed… we made it through 5 laps before Bernie manned up and beat everyone

DORA 123: Pair up with yet another new partner –> 100 Shoulder Taps, 200 Flutter Kicks, 300 Barry Shinkofs (with full field runs for the partner)… there was a lot of complaining about the length of the run, which brought much joy to YHQ

Quiz Time: We can’t have a FNG in the midst without teaching him a few things of what F3 is all about.  Missed answers ended up with half-field sprints (merciful Q) and correct answers were awarded with 20 LBCs (semi-correct answers were given 30 LBCs)… the PAX ended up with a C- overall and did far more running than even YHQ had hoped for.

COT: YHQ shared a two point message 1)I had a buddy, at 45, have a heart attack last week, therefore I felt the need to get the PAX moving as much as possible and make one strong choice to fight the odds of one of us ended up in that situation and 2) A message on the 2nd F… its the glue, its what keeps guys coming back and it can be as easy as asking each other simple questions like “what was one good thing from last week” or “what are you hoping to knock our this year” or… adding reps to your laps so that you don’t pull away and crush everyone with your speedy awesomeness, but rather make your workout harder and stay in the grind right next to your brother.  -> Welcome Stank!
