Depends and I enjoyed some great fellowship as we plodded around Treaty Park carrying some concrete. I shared my memory verse of the week, 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10. In it, the apostle Paul claims that true strength can only be had by boasting in one’s weaknesses. This notion runs so counter to every inclination we have as men and likely perplexed many Corinthian men who saw weakness as an effeminate attribute.

We want to, at all times, project strength; however, far too often our sense of strength is rooted in pride, arrogance and self-righteousness. When we name our weaknesses, failures and shortcomings with candor, we do two things. First, we admit that we don’t have it all figured out. Then, because we have such an appetite as men to be strong, we move toward the one who can provide real, lasting strength: Christ Jesus.
