  • The PAX: Bartles & Jaymes, OxyClean, Crotchless, Sasquatch, Six Mill (R), Slip-N-Slide

7 pax posting in the gloom at Asgard under what appears to be pre-stormy conditions- some wind, very light to no precipitation, and dark.  Great weather for a beatdown.  YHC wasn’t planning using any coupons today, but he didn’t want to disappoint Bartles & Jaymes who was excited to lift heavy objects after completing his data training for work, so he obliged.  Bartles & Jaymes now has second thoughts…

The Thang

This time of year always makes YHC think about his birthplace of Huntington, WV.  It was 53 years ago today, when Southern Airways Flight 932, crashed into a hillside just short of the Tri-State Airport runway, killing all 75 passengers on board, including members of the Marshall University football team, staffers, boosters, and flight crew.  Even though he was a year from being born, he knew the story well, as does everyone who is from the area.  This was the single most tragic accident in collegiate sports history.  This beatdown is in memory of this event.

  • “14’s”- same concept but reps add up to 14, but add/subtract by 2 each round
    • Exercises were bicep curls and skull crushers with rifle carry as the mode of transportation

COT/BOM

YHC talked about remember growing up knowing about the plane crash, but not a lot about the details until later in life.  He learned how much this loss affected the community.  But, as with many things, although the past hurts, one must persevere and push onward.  And Marshall did just that.  They rose “from the ashes”.   After several lean years, Marshall won two Division I-AA National Championships, and have been competitive since moving to Division I-A in 1997.

In life, we have many ups and downs.  We’ve all experienced some tragedy, loss, or any other obstacle that we’ve had to overcome.  We morn the dead, feel sorry and down for a bit, but we must rise up afterwards and move forward.  We can do so if we have hope in the Lord, and fellow brothers who will not let us stay down.  Those two things can help us overcome and move forward.
