Backwards to go forward?

YHC had been contemplating something different for a while and this morning seemed like the perfect time to bring it to fruition. After all, Hey Big Papi would be there, which meant unfiltered and continuous feedback. What could go wrong?

The Flag was planted, cones placed in the field and time was called.

The Thang

The Disclaimer was given however instead of  the “accustomed” warm up, YHC began with about 5 rounds of Circle Burp’s. As if on cue, Heisenberg chirped, “Burpees are not a warm-up exercise.” A few of the other pax must have agreed because the mumblechatter picked up. Lot’s of complaining.

HOWEVER…….When was the last time  you remember that an emergency in life gave you time to ‘warm-up’?  Maybe a hurricane?

The Thang 2

Mosey to the field and line up on the lamppost for some sprints.

Sprint to sidewalk -5 burpees

Sprint back-10 merkins

Sprint to sidewalk 15 Jumpsquats

Sprint to lamppost 20 BBSU

I had placed 2 cones in mid-field and thought we should do some crap out there and the best way to get there was to bearcrawl. At mid field we did:

Jack Webbs/Iron Hulks- 1 merkin followed by 4 Air Presses ascending up to 10 merkins and 40 air presses.  Leadership fail here as I had to explain it for some of the Pax that have done the exercise before but apparently needed it explained….again.

Captain Thors: Same concept as before…ascending reps of 1 bbsu to 4 American Hammers

Lots of mumblechatter here….Toxic and Bernie were going back and forth about Polish Vodka made in Japan and consumed by Afgans? It should also be noted, that several of the pax will need to go to Ace hardware to get O rings replaced. That was nasty……

After the above was completed we bear crawled to the side walk for 10 penalty burpees when I inadvertently let out the F bomb. Thanks Hey Big Papi for helping me be accountable.

Bear crawl back to mid field for some more Jack Webb action and the introduction of ….wait for it….LABIA LIFTS!!

An ascending 1:4 ratio work out that consists of 1 leg lift followed by 4 LBC’s. This was a crowd pleaser and I’m sure all PAX were able to kegle themselves silly…..(I’m sure that this will be a swift entry into the Exicon….)

After that….Lunge walk to lamppost for Dora 1,2,3

100 Derkins

200 Step ups

300 calf raises

Again….Leadership fail….As I was giving the instructions one of the pax asked where we would do the derkin’s and Step ups….I wrongly assumed that since we were standing 5 feet away from benches, it was obvious, but I want to be able to learn from my errors. Next time! I know I was wrong.

Sometimes we thing progression is always in a linear fashion however life is often like an EKG read-out , there are ups and downs and we learn from from both….(or a fish hook diagram-Thanks Pud)  Often times its not a bad idea to take a step backward to recalibrate before moving onward.
