Preparing Mind and Body To Slay The Kraken

Posted on Posted in Backblasts

11 men posted in a chilly and damp gloom at Badlands Davis Park in Ponte Vedra on the 8th of February to better their fitness, fellowship, and faith. All men were welcomed and then the F3 mission, core principles and disclaimer were proclaimed. CPR-certified PAX were identified and YHC held phone in case of emergency.

The Warmup (in cadence): SSH, Butt Kicker, Hillbilly, Toy Soldier

The Thang:

  • Fast-ish mosey to the back turf field
  • Six Minutes of Mary at midfield: Dolly, Rosalita, Dying Cockroach, Lying Leg Raise, Flutter Kick, Freddie Mercury
  • The Kraken Mile: *4 rounds with a 10 count recovery after each round
    • 10 kraken burpees (3 hand release merkins at bottom of movement)
    • 100 meter run
    • 10 kraken squats (arms out wide and squat as deep as possible)
    • 100 meter run
    • 10 kraken superman to boat (arms out wide and flip over to V-up boat hold)
    • 100 meter run
    • 10 kraken split squats (each leg) while performing arm circles
    • 100 meter run

*YHC note: only 3 rounds were completed due to time constraints but PAX was sufficiently gassed

The Message: The Kraken is this Saturday at Jax Beach but the real monster we fight all the time as men is self-doubt. This struggle is waged in the battlefield of the mind and is the most important fight that we must win to be impactful men in our families, our workplaces, and in our communities. Posting to F3 and doing hard things helps replace self-doubt with self-confidence.

The Tunes: Call Me The Breeze (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Black Betty (Ram Jam), Sabotage (Beastie Boys), Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana), Alive (P.O.D.), Light Em Up (Fall Out Boy), Jump Around (House of Pain), Enter Sandman (Metallica), Eye of the Tiger (Survivor)

The COT (back at flagpole): Announcements / Prayer Requests / Prayer / Pledge of Allegiance / Photo

YHC was proud to lead this group of HIM. Thank you for the opportunity.
