YHC ruck-dollied with Mr. Woodchuck and Fifty Cent at 0445…at 0527 realized we were a bit away from the AO and needed to double time (BTW, as a former Airman, double timing, especially with a ruck is NOT something we did…) so sweaty and out of breath from running, YHC circled up…

Namearama — welcomed FNG “Cupid” relatively new transplant from Houston. Moved to area just before COVID hit on Valentine’s Day 2020…interestingly, Cupid is a respectable man with a 19 month old at home (!!!). Closed out with prayers for thanks, and Q source on Shield Lock led by Scholls.

About “The Donny” WOD

Today marked the 10th anniversary of the death of Army Spc. Donald L. Nichols — Died on April 13, 2011 in Mehtar Lam district, Afghanistan serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. 

Donny was 21, from Shell Rock, Iowa; he was assigned to the 1st BN, 133d Infantry Regiment, Iowa Army National Guard. Killed from wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with IEDs. 

“During a news conference at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa, a friend recalled Nichols as a cheerful soldier who was always up for an all-night poker game. ‘He just brought like a light to our platoon,” said Cadet Andrew Brown. “He was just always happy-go-lucky. He wasn’t really loud. He always had his notebook out. He always wanted to learn. He would have gone far, I know that for certain.”
