Pearls Before Swine

I decided to do something that we haven’t done in a while at Anthill this morning. Road trip! I put out the disclaimer on Slack the night before that on paper it didn’t look very good. Pearls on a string with a purpose. Do something hard! ( that’s what she said)

We were pleasantly surprised when Zamboni appeared after seven years of hibernation! He looked well rested and kempt.

At the appointed time we circled up, I gave the disclaimer and again informed the participants that we would be conducting some pearls on a string action. We did the following warm-ups.

SSH- 10 IC

That’s enough of that. Time to mosey to the parking lot in front of that Mediterranean restaurant. The olive tree I believe.

A modified dora activity

Burpees x 50

Overhead Claps x100

Merkins x 150

Squats x 200

I found a rock, and asked Lego to hurl it to a point in the parking lot that he thought appropriate. It landed 3/4 of the way down. That was the point at which everyone would bear crawl and run the rest of the way whilst the others did their burpees . The mode of transportation alternated betwixt bearcrawls, lunge walks and karaoke.

We found a store front with a ledge and did the following.

Calf raises for Bernie x 25*

Belgian split squats x10 ** Belgian split squats are similar to Bulgarian split squats but more refined.

Burpees x 10

Merkins x 15

LBC’s x 30

*When Bernie started F3 he had calf muscles similar to a garter snake. He’s come a long way.

Pearl 3

We found another parking lot and did the following:

Diamond Merkins x 10

Crunchy frogs x 10

Superman‘s x 10

Squats x 10

Pearl 4

The announcement was made that for the remainder of the beat down the following exercises would be done at each corner we encountered.

Burpees x 7

big boys set ups x 14

lunges x 21

Merkins X 28

The first corner the intersection of Hendricks and Atlantic, then we crossed the street  and did it again. I observed Shock Treatment with his hands on his knees looking at a pill bug. Secretly I think he horked, yet he denied it.

We were able to get two more sets of the above exercises  before we moseyed back to the flag and did our last set.

The message of the day: There is no learning in the comfort zone and there is no comfort in the learning zone.
