Message: Supplement your faith
The Apostle Peter was a Godly man who once relied on his own strength to make things happen his way. He made mistakes, learned limitations, matured and now in this letter he offers instruction to younger men. “Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.” (2 Peter 1:5-9)
Peter’s wisdom here is to “supplement your faith”, or in other words, add to your faith. A man cannot merely say “I have faith” and not have actions. Faith and actions go together like muscle mass and protein intake. A man’s faith is verified with actions. Faith without works is dead, and muscle without movement will also be so.
