9 JaxPax showed up for a nice, cool Saturday morning workout at Boondocks.

YHC was leading his first Saturday beatdown — so it was sort-of technically a VQ.

YHC decided that this workout was meant to keep the Pax together and in fellowship. The idea came from a lively discussion that Dredd started on Facebook regarding the “Dishonest Cheater” — that’s not the point of this discussion for me. But ultimately this comment is what hit home the hardest for YHC:

This is what YHC tried to create with the workout — the ability to keep the Pax together and focus on the other “F’s” aside from 1F — which, if truth be told, is what keeps YHC coming back. It’s a truth: 1F is a magnet, but 2F is the glue

The Warm Up

  • SSH — IC x 15
  • Prisoner Squats  — IC x 10
  • LBAC F&B — IC x 10
  • Chinooks — IC x 10
  • Reacher — IC x 10
  • Good Mornings — OYO x 10
  • Michael Phelps — IC x 10

The Thang

Mosey to turf football field

11s of ‘deconstructed burpees’ — 10 merkins/1 jump squat, 9 merkins/2 jump squats, 8 merkins, 3 jump squats, etc…

Mosey to second football field for “Great 8s”

YHC explained — Great 8s was in honor of his youngest’s 8 birthday

(YHC did NOT eat any of that cake – yet)

YHC also explained his goal for this was to keep the Pax together as best as possible — a good lesson was in store as one of our own (Fix-It) came out to the workout injured with a bad ankle sprain — so we did our best to accommodate him and keep the workout together.

Without further ado:

Round 1:  5 Burpees — then run end zone to end zone (ez-ez) as a group

Round 2: 5 Burpees + 10 Merkins — then run ez-ez

Round 3: 5 Burpees + 10 Merkins + 15 LBCs — then run ez-ez

Round 4: 5 Burpees + 10 Merkins + 15 LBCs + 20 Dry Docks — then run ez-ez

Round 5: 5 Burpees + 10 Merkins + 15 LBCs + 20 Dry Docks + 25 Squats — then run ez-ez

Round 6: 5 Burpees + 10 Merkins + 15 LBCs + 20 Dry Docks + 25 Squats + 1 Min Plank (as a Pax) — then run ez-ez

Round 7: 5 Burpees + 10 Merkins + 15 LBCs + 20 Dry Docks + 25 Squats + 1 Min Plank (as a Pax) + 35 WonderBras (*this add-in was not well thought-out as shoulders were shot at this point) — then run ez-ez

Round 8: 5 Burpees + 10 Merkins + 15 LBCs + 20 Dry Docks + 25 Squats + 1 Min Plank (as a Pax) + 35 WonderBras + 40 SSH

Mosey back to Flag for a little Ciabatta abs:

  • 20 seconds Birth Canals/10 seconds Rest
  • 20 seconds Flutter Kicks/10 seconds Rest
  • 20 seconds Freddie Mercury/10 seconds Rest
  • 20 seconds Plank Jack/10 seconds Rest
  • Repeat

Finished up with Count-o-Rama, Name-o-Rama and brief discussion of fellowship and what brings YHC out consistently — the workouts are great, but the fellowship is what brings you back for more. Being Easter weekend one of the things that stood out for YHC was a Stations of the Cross service attended — Station 3: Jesus falls for the first time.

Simon of Cyrene comes to help and take some of the burden from Jesus — YHC thought that was fitting for his message. We fall all the time, YHC especially feels like he is constantly stumbling and bumbling — but thankfully there are others around who will help lift us up and carry some of our burden — more importantly not leave our side.

CoT/Prayers/Pledge of Allegiance rounded out this beautiful Saturday morning.
